I’m starting to worry about GarageBand for the Mac. While it was last updated in December 2025, they didn’t update the icon for Tahoe (macOS 26). That’s not a huge deal, but with the new releases of Logic Pro that include the Creator Studio versions, you have to wonder who GarageBand is for if Logic Pro is getting that focus. Wouldn’t most people just use Logic Pro? Add in the fact that the macOS version doesn’t have features that the iPad version does, yet Logic Pro has parity across platforms, it makes me think Apple is moving on from it.

If that’s the case, it would be a shame. GarageBand is a great little program and many of us use it as a sketchpad and then bring the projects into Logic Pro later. Also, it’s free and thus a gateway into Logic Pro. I always tell people that underneath, they’re the same app so you’re getting a lot of power under that simplified interface.
